However, in the 1980s, the Federal Government deemed a competitive free-trade marketplace would be better suited for the energy market rather than a controlled monolopy. Since then, many states have switched to deregulated energy marketplaces.

Thanks to this monumental change, Option Energy, a Michigan Limited Liability company, was formed. A company built on the foundation of saving the consumer money. Especially proud of our ability to greatly reduce utility costs we are happy to be of service to our clients.

Option Energy is a thriving company that has Energy Brokers working in multiple states ranging from the Eastern Seaboard to the Mississippi, and all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico. With many State Directors working across the nation, Option Energy is able to offer its services to deregulated marketplaces everywhere.

The company is headquartered in an ideal setting within Kalamazoo, Michigan. Located directly next to Interstate-94, the 15,000 square foot facility is prime commercial office space with future capabilites of adding 120-150 more agents. Near the central office are three Tier-1 Fiber-Optic bandwidth providers, the facility will play a pinnacle role in the company's ten year future expansion plan.

What really defines who Option Energy is, are the people who work here. Co-founded by Jon Rockwood and Ivan Pillars, Option Energy employs a diverse and friendly staff.

Personal Highlight:

Jon Rockwood, President of Option Energy, first began his career in sales in 1991 as an Intern while studying Finance at Western Michigan University. Years later Jon became a licensed Stock Broker for Edward D. Jones Investments where he stayed ten years gaining intimate knowledge of the marketplace. From there Jon acquired knowledge and experience in the Financial, Mortgage, Real Estate, and Energy Markets, both deregulated and regulated. Ready to put his experience to work, Jon approached Ivan Pillars, a friend he'd done business with before, with the idea to co-found the company, and has since driven the expansion and growth of Option Energy into what it currently is.

Ivan Pillars, Vice-President of Option Energy, gladly boasts nearly fifty years of Sales experience. Beginning his career in 1960 as a vending salesperson, by 1970 he had become Operations Manager at a larger Vending company. From that point on, Ivan has celebrated a very succesful business career that eventually lead him to join with Jon Rockwood to create Option Energy. Passionate about his work, Ivan is even more passionate about his family. Married to his high-school sweetheart for nearly fifty years, Ivan receives great joy from his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Dylan Short, IT Intern, joined the company through an internship program with Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Now boasting two Associates Degrees, one in Graphic Design, and the other in Digital-Prepress, Dylan works on all aspects of Graphic Design, Web Design, and Marketing for Option Energy. Strongly passionate about design, fine art, and photography, Dylan offers the company a well-rounded set of skills that have helped define the very look of Option Energy.
