Why Have An Energy Audit?

The process of auditing an energy bill is a complex one, but it's an important process that can save you money in both the short and long term.

So why go through the process?

For starters, it's free. With no up-front costs you only have the potential to gain. We will carefully look over every aspect of your energy bill and your energy usage. Not only do we look for errors, we also find ways to reduce your overall energy usage and costs. With over half the bills we audit containing errors, we're very pleased to share that every single error we've found has lead directly to our clients saving or being refunded money.

What if there is an error? What exactly happens to my energy bill?

When we find an error on your bill we will let you know first with what the error is and what steps will be taking place next. Within the next couple of days, we will send you a written summary of the error. Along with that summary, we will send you an Auditing Contract and a Letter of Authorization (LOA). These need to be completed so we can work directly with your utility providers without any hassel to you. Once the error(s) has been verified with the utility provider, the utility provider will send a refund, or rebate, through the mail within the next thirty to fourty-five days. State law provides us the ability to go back up to four years through previous utility bills potentially saving you even more money.

How does Option Energy get paid?

Option Energy receives payment on a case-by-case basis. Our payment comes if, and only if, you save money. Explained carefully in the Auditing Contract, we split the savings amount with you. In the case of us finding several errors that have been left unchecked for four years causing you to have been over-charged $2,600, your initial reward would be the full amount of the error. You will then recieve an invoice from us desrcibing our charge, in this case, of $1,300. This means you have been rewarded $1,300 by your utility provider. Additionally, the errors found in your bill have been resolved saving you monies on future bills. Furthermore, we can inform you of many other ways to reduce your energy costs and usage throughout your home and business by reducing your energy rates and overall usage.
